Creating Comics
Students taking Arnie's classes are free to draw characters, scenes and stories of their own choice and in their own style. All instruction is one-on-one and personal. A wide variety of comics, graphic novels, picture books and how-to draw books of all kinds are available for references. All artist materials are provided and a $10 materials fee is due the 1st class of each session. students may experience the added excitement of working up close and personal with a gifted professional who can draw just about anything.
Creating Characters
Students learn anatomy, costume design, movement, expressions, gestures, distinguishing features, personality traits, using published characters as templates
Creating Stories
Students receive one-on-one instruction in the art of storytelling, layout and graphic design to make their stories exciting, interesting or amusing, and always entertaining.
Creating Scenes
Students learn to use abstract picture elements to suggest complex backgrounds. Less is more. Picture references are used to achieve convincing realism. Character placement, depth-of-field, perspective as well as lighting and shadows create a convincing view of characters in their own world.
Creating Fan Art
Copying or interpreting well-known characters from comic books, movies, tv, graphic novels and video games of their choice, is a fast track for learning to create personal styles and characters. Young artists also develop confidence and the satisfaction of knowing that their efforts are universally recognizable.
